Teacher Notes:

1.  This site is designed to give students background knowledge prior to reading the book, The Breadwinner, by Deborah Ellis.  It is an historical fiction account recorded by Deborah when she was visiting the Afghan refugee camps in the late 90's.

2.  Students need to know how to downsize a Word document from this WebQuest and later copy information onto that Word document while visiting different Web sites to gather information.

3.  In order to listen to and view all of the sites on this WebQuest your computers need to have software such as RealPlayer or Media Player.

4.  Students need to know how to access hyperlinked words and icons.

5.  Computers need to have printer access in order to download and print worksheets and handouts for the paper dolls. 

6.  This WebQuest can also be viewed and completed with small groups of students.
