Assessment

Each of your observations will be carefully assessed to determine how well you focused, organized, supported, and wrote during this adventure.  Perhaps you, along with all the characters in Crazy Lady!, discovered a newfound awareness of yourself and others.

You will be awarded votes by the judges to qualify for winning medals as follows: 

94 - 100 votes = Gold
85 - 93 votes = Silver
77 - 84 = Bronze

Observation #1 - 100 votes Contains 12 facts for each partner from website research, three from each site.  Differing facts are listed in areas "A" and "B" of the Venn diagram; similar facts are listed in the "C" area of the Venn diagram.  Teacher observes partner sharing activity.
Observation #2 - 100 votes 50 votes for correct answers to five of the seven questions.
50 votes for correctly completing the Stickman graphic about a character.
Observation #3 - 100 votes Select and write a quotation with author.
Write a paragraph about the quote explaining what the quote means, why it is important advice for the character, and how it will guide his or her actions and speech in the future.  Paragraph will be assessed for its focus, organization, support, and conventions.
Observation #4 - 100 votes Poem correctly models form for acrostic, cinquain, diamante, haiku, or limerick poetry.  Details in poem focus on specific facts related to Special Olympics learned from website and novel.
Observation #5 - 100 votes Focus, Organization, and Support - 75 votes

Article follows rules for punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and sentence structure - 25 votes

Article contains the who, what, when, where, and why information required in newspaper writing style.  It is written from Vernon's point of view about a change in his attitude concerning an issue related to the novel. The article must contain support using facts and details from the novel.

Observation #6 - 100 votes Book review follows guidelines from website.  Written review states a reaction or opinion about the book and supports that opinion with specific facts and details taken from the book.  The subject for the book review comes from one of the four main parts of the book--the plot, the character, the setting, or the theme.
