Select the five topics for which you would like to write journal entries.
Visit all of the websites provided for each topic and learn more about it. Consider how the information you just read might have affected Cassie and/or her family. How might they react to it? How do you think the adults would react? What did the world around her look like? How did they get their information? What was important to them?

Next, write your journal entry as if you were Cassie. You'll be writing fiction within the content of historical facts. Make your journal entries as realistic as possible and within those entries demonstrate that you have an understanding of the events in the Resources. Repeat the above step for five of the six resources. You must also complete a separate journal entry written as an "older" Cassie and her thoughts on the Civil Rights Movement. Lastly, properly cite the Internet resources used in this webquest on a separate piece of paper. All of your work should be typed using the St. Pius X Essay Format and neatly organized. |
